Framebuilders - Cracked seat lug

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I have a small crack in the seat clamp of my Bob Jackson Special Tourist where the bolt goes through the clamp. Can this be repaired and if yes roughly how much would the cost be? Should I try to contact the manufacturer to get a replacement lug? Finally, can anyone recommend a shop or builder to do such repairs if they are possible? Thanks for your time.

do you have a picture? How old is the bike? If nothing else, what remains of the seat post bolt ears can be removed and replaced. There have been a lot of frames built this way, particularly back when lugs were pressed steel. I think that would be a much cleaner repair. You also don't have a location, that would determine who might repair it.
Thanks for the reply. Pics to follow. Thanks again.

bob jackson would stand behind his work in a generous way i would think. it sucks cause there is almost no way to fix this without messing the paint, perhaps a quick tig job putting on some new binder bolt ears would leave you with only some epoxy or enamel touch up. good luck!
