So what do you do to lock up when not you don't carry anything?

I don't want a hip pouch or a tool belt or to carry my U-Lock in my pocket.
If I hang my U-lock from my bars it flies around and chips paint and makes a racket.

Are there any mechanisms that [I]securely[I] fasten to the frame and lock?

I mean, how is an aggressive urban cyclist supposed to get around with no baggage?

i like this option. loops on whatever belt~ no weight, secure, hidden by shirt when lock is off~

I have this little thing that came with my On Guard lock that straps into my frame and lets me hook my lock onto it.

I've never used it because I bring my backpack everywhere where I'd need to bring my lock.

I run the bar through the U and tuck it in behind the front brake cable. That way the lock sits just off to the side of the caliper, with the brake cable and the gap between the caliper and fork keeping it from coming forward and rubbing on the tire. Easy and convenient, but may or may not work for you depending on your bike and lock.

whenever I ride my old rusty nishiki I just throw the my faghetaboutBLAH
lock on my tt and seat tube. doesn't really move at all and I haven't seen any damage. probably wouldn't do it on a bike with a nice paint job though.

Have you ever wondered how uncomfortable riding your bike would be if you were sitting on it? WELL NOW YOU CAN FINALLY FIND OUT!!!!!

You don't actually sit on the lock .. it kinda hangs in the back. idk, why you'd need that look thingy tho. You can just use your belt!!!

If that's where you sit on your saddle there's something wrong. That thing is made by Fabric Horse.

Sitting on your bike? Either way, fail.

Not necessarily. I don't own too many pairs of pants that have belt loops spaced far enough apart to fit my mini lock without having to really force it.

My Kryptonite and probably most other U-locks come with a plastic bracket. You should use one of those.

i used to have little velcro strips. And use it to tie the ulock to the top tube and seat tube so it doesn't swing around.

So you skip a loop on one side.

I'm never without a bag so it's not really an issue.

I'm paranoid so I always carry two locks and a cable in my bag. Heavy as ****. Can be a pain in the ass sometimes.

Just carry a bag, already! You're saying you never need tools, coat, water, or anything that could be forced into a bag?

You carry a bag / backpack.

That way you can not only have space for your lock (preferably 2 since wheelsets are being stolen left and right), but also for a spare tube, a patch kit, a pump, a 15mm wrench, and some other goodies to make your life easier.

Unless of course you're also interested in being an aggressive urban pedestrian, in which case you need none of the above.

Hence the picture. I just use a bag.

You guys don't have reclining seats on your bikes? Living in the past, man.

^^^ this ^^^

Since all my fg bikes see some utilitarian duty (except the polo bike) they all have rear racks fitted and I can put my shackle down the side and not have to worry about it flying around.

If I am without a rack I carry a small rock climbing bag that will hold the minimum amount of stuff I need to keep be from having to become a pedestrian.

Wow, thanks for all the replies. Couple of things...

-All I have is one really big bag for grocery shopping and schooling and such, I don't want to buy a smaller one/pouch for just a lock.
-I have a saddle bag that has multitool, tube, and mini-pump strapped on. The only other thing I need to carry is a lock.
-When I ride to a friends house, go to a restaurant/bar, go to an event, etc I don't want to carry an enormous bag with just a lock in it.
-I don't need multiple locks as theft isn't a major concern 'round these parts.
-I've heard poor reviews about the frame mounts, though perhaps in combination with velco-straps it could be secure.
-I never wear a belt, and hadn't considered this method, but I'll have to try it now and see how comfy it is for me.

I'm surprised so many people always carry a bag no matter what their mission. I mean, sure I can fill a bag with clothes and water and things, but if I don't need to, why go through the trouble. Besides, I commute daily with a filled bag and its refreshing to ride without one I think.

Count your blessings to live somewhere where everything attached to a bike actually has a chance of remaining on the bike when it's locked up.

I carry a bag, even though it's annoying sometimes, because anything left unattended on a bike in L.A. will wander off.

Even if you don't wear a belt, a Kryptonite U-lock and most small U-locks fit in a back pocket. It's very convenient. They come with a frame mount as well, but I don't use mine.

im thinking if he doesnt weat a belt, if it puts HISUlock in his backpocket, it'll pull his pants down no? (or have sagging issues) ;D

Look for a U-lock with a mounting bracket on the bike. It is probably the best method.

They make u-lock mounts for your frame:
