I'm looking for a nice thin light weight shoe for when i get to start biking come spring (or whenever i put my bike back together). I was thinking about something simple like vans' classics or something like that, but i'm not sure. I figured i might as well post a thread about it to get some feedback.

Why these criteria? If weight, performance, etc. are a factor for you at all, you should be looking more along the lines of this:

I am using a dirt cheap clone of Onitsuka Tiger. The sole is soft and that make it doodoo. It's better than running shoes, though. (They are too fat and get stuck in the cages.)

I am looking at Vans AV6 skating shoes. Kinda expensive though. Anyone can comment on those?

Go clipless. it's fantastic for FG riding.

But if you must have normal shoes, then get something that has a good wedge shape and has a fairly stiff/thick sole.

Skate shoes tend to have quite thin soles so you get a good feel of the board under your feet.

I use extremely thin Vans knockoffs by Mossimo..
