Triathlon - Looking for a Computer

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hello all I'm in need of a computer and it's got to be one with a heart rate monitor. What do you use what do you wish you had. I'm just looking for some feed back on what everyone likes/dislikes.
I would like to be able to track my fitness progress this season so what's gonna make me the happiest in your opinion?
Pretend like I've got cash to spend on this, leave the low end computer comments to yourself.
Thanks

I use a Garmin 305. Best bang for your buck from my research. I'm still learning all its functions and such.
I honestly would not buy a computer that wasn't Ant+ compatable. Just in case you ever decide to get a power meter, you'll already have a HRM and computer that works with it.
The Garmin 500 is what all the Garmin sponsored teams will be using this year I believe, $350 for the bundle with the heart rate monitor.
Bontrager is also coming out with their node series which fairly reasonably priced.
I use a cateye micro wireless, no HRM though.

I use the Garmin Forerunner 305. I guess it would depend upon all of you "NEEDS" and "WANTS". The 305 has enough for me and the 310x is supposed to be better for the swimming portion, but not accurate for HRM or tracking in swimming. I use the footpod and the cadence/speed sensor on the 305 for the treadmill and roller workouts.

I will be using the computer for cycling only and I want it to do darn near everything.

Another one here with Forerunner 305: GPS, HRM, speed and cadence on the rear wheel so it works on a trainer. They can be had for $160. It is a tri dream unit at this point in time. I'm looking forward to 310 dropping in price, or the new Timex watch later this year.
