Picked up a V2 from a private party in Orange County via Craigslist. Red, fenders, rack, cyclometer, bar mirror, good condition, but will need new chainrings, chain and rear cluster soon as they look worn. Paint/frame (steel) is in very good shape and I have ridden it a few times. I am surprised at how light this bike is, as it looks as it should be heavier.
As I had never ridden a recumbent before, it was interesting riding one for the first time. I felt very akward, but I picked things up fast. It is scary when trying to start off on a slight uphill, but I feel with practice confidence will come. As for the tiller effect on up hills, well I didn't notice much but perhaps this is because I had been forewarned about this and I have always tried to ride without too much upper body motion.
The thing needs some re-adjustment as I have been goofing around with it to check the shifting but when the weather clears a little I will get out on it on the flats for a while, even if I have to drive there and then ride.
Also, did you know that a V2 will fit into the back of a Prius, provide the back seats are folded down and that you remove the front wheel and seat of the bike? It is a hassle but it works. And no, I have not had any problems with lack of brakes or unwanted acceleration with our Prius!
Does anyone else have a V2 or its current incarnation, the RANS Formula LE (which is aluminum)?
