Road Cycling - Jamis Bikes?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hi there,
I've bee checking around at my local Trek dealer and have noticed they are now carrying Jamis bikes. Checking out the speck on some of these bikes (Comet) it seems a bit too good to be true, full ultegra, crabon everywhere u look, yet a steel ride and Mavic wheels. Is there any achilles heel to these bikes? Thanks for any info.

The only 'achilles heel' I know of is that they're a small manufacturer.
i think the Jamis steel rides are a great value - don't know anybody personally who has one, but i definitely would have given the Quest serious consideration if it was available in a larger size than a 61cm.

If you don't mind a 2003 and can fit on a 53cm - Here's a model or two up from the comet for 2000.

I have a 2003 Quest and I really like it. All of the reviews and comments I have seen have been postive as well.

NOTE: I received a PM that made me think maybe I had in some way endorsed this vendor. Just in case, thought I'd follow up and make sure anyone interested in this thread knows that I have not shopped with that vendor and don't know anything about them other than they listed a 53cm 2003 Jamis on their site. I was curious about Jamis just like the OP. So a quick search on Froogle turned up that bike.

I recently purchased a brand new old stock Jamis Aurora. I know, I have too many bikes already but this was a steal folks! I can't wait for the LBS this Thursday to return it back after the tune-up. It's a low end spec but for less than $500.00 bucks, what can you expect?? I like the color and the geometry is quite traditional.
I just got a jamis nova and it looks awesome! I hadn't gotten a chance to ride it yet cause it just came in today and it's raining but I was pleasantly surpized. I got a steel model and it's lighter than I expected. It has a carbon fork and 105 group, fizik saddle and ritchy stem and HB's. It also came with useable pedals although I don't know how long I will be using them.
