I've read the existing threads, but I would like some specific advice. I am looking at a Brooks B17 or B17N for my commuter bike. I'm a tall guy, 6'5" and around 190 lbs. As a fact of the way bikes are designed for larger sizes I have a large drop from the saddle to the handlebars (not sure how much, but many inches). It's not really uncomfortable (which, for some reason, I hear is usually the case with tall people). But it makes me wonder if I should get a B17N for less thigh problems while pedaling. I measured my sit bones at home to be around 125-130 mm (I know, not terribly accurate). I don't care about speed or weight, just comfort and getting fewer saddle sores.

In your position, I would go with the B-17N. I have one, and I love it. It's more comfortable to me than the B-17 it replaced.

If you are riding on a narrow saddle now and don't mind the B17N will work very well. Use Obenhaufs LP to condition the saddle. Brooks proofhide sucks.

FYI, 125 sit bones are probably too wide for a b17N, putting them over the metal support - ouch.

With a few inches of drop from the saddle to bars, you might want to look at the Swallow or Swift instead of the B-17 saddles.
