(this answer assumes that it will have cold water and olympic or half iron distance)
Trisuit (oly) or Tri top and Tri bottom (half iron) under wetsuit
Race Cap (given by tri)
Bike, Wheels, extra tube, CO2, Tire lever, number on bike
2 water bottles (1 mixture, 1 water)
Gel or bar taped to bike
Race belt with number attached
That's how i go through the day.

Don't forget the most important piece of gear, you might be arrested without one!

you need to bring moist towlets for the last minute trip to the over used Portopotty.....this is the very essence of triathlon. Waiting on line at 6am with strangers all anxious to visit the plastic nightmare called Portopotty.....I luv to just chat with people as we all need to drop a deuce.....It makes me laugh evertime..so yes a Moist wipe is Key

Well, I ride to my tri's (mostly somewhat local, and a 10/15km ride is a good warmup)
to get to venue
backpack (to put everything in)
2 water bottles, wallet/keys/entry details/phone/towel, book
I like the idea of moist wipes lol
Here's what I bring...
Warm clothes to wear until race start if it's chilly
Flip flops for walking around prior to race
Garmin 305 w/ HRM
Wet suit (if cold enough)
Colored swim cap provided in race packet
Bike with number
Nutrition / water bottles
CO2 w/ inflator, spare tube, tire lever
General Transition Area stuff:
Towel (for marking your area and wiping off your feet)
Water bottle (for giving your feet a rinse off after running in from the swim)
