Anybody know what they usually are?
I have a late 90s Watanabe and my 27.2 seatpost won't fit, so it's definitely smaller than that.
But the question is, 27.0 or 26.8?
and I'm not paying the lbs just to find the size...

whip out them calipers
I doubt the LBS will charge you to stick a set of calibers in there and measure it. I know I wouldnt if someone came in my shop needing something like that. Id call them and ask.
Sorry I dont know the size though.

Its probably 27.0.
Few builders used 26.8.

A quick Google search shows that NJS stamped seatposts are available in both 26.8 and 27.0

Plenty of frames have 26.8
Example: All the new Panasonics are 26.8. I had one old Panasonic which was an 86' and it was also 26.8.
Its not a commonly used size though.
My Panasonics are both 27.0 (1987 and 2001).
Best to be sure by taking your frame into the LBS or checking w digital calipers; I want to see this build up when you're done. BTW, I picked up a Level a month or two back that I can't stop riding. You'll love this Watanabe.

Yo!---I thought you were outta comission? Didn't you get all ****ed up and break something on a BMX bike recently? Glad you're feeling better. Pics of the Level

But which is his bike?

Yo man, I got off the crutches 3 weeks ago and I was back out riding (carefully) two weeks ago, about 25-40 miles per week.
I was super diligent w the rollers and my physical therapy, so I'm back on the bike doing normal rides, albeit in the 42/17 flavor. I can't run a huge ring just yet and I can't mash too hard, but I'm getting stronger. I'm hoping to make a ride from Dallas to Austin for SXSW.
I don't have a full build pic yet that I want to post, but here's the frame:

Haha, I bet I will, but the thing is takes a lifetime to save up to buy the parts I need working part-time as a student. Hopefully I'll be able to work more hours when I go off to college next year, but for now, it is way incomplete.
btw Suntour Superbe Pros (cranksets, hubs) are good? They're discontinued and all and they seem like a good alternative to the commonplace suginos.
I thought it would be proper for my frame because it has "suntour" track ends :)
and good to hear you're better!

There's a ******** beauty.
Thanks for the positive feedback on the Level. Suntour Superbe gruppos are absolutely sweet, but quite expensive, along the lines of some Campy stuff.
Check out some of the Cannondale Track 3.0 brochures, those completes came with Superbe gruppos. You can also find alot of that stuff on ebay/craigs obviously, but LA Fixed is a great resource for parts, as is Velospace.
wooo! that level is one hot frame!
btw, if it even matters, my 3rensho is 26.8. Just take a caliper to it ;)

make sure the post is njs too, or else the quality of the frame might be marred
fwiw i think mine is 27.2
Nice. I use a $25 melt forged Laprade SR in one of my panasonics.
