that's awesome. I was just admiring the bike path near me. No bike tracks, but hundreds of footprints. I just can't imagine walking that far in 2' deep snow, but someone is doing it.

The bike path that leads to my work is better than the roads in my neighborhood and many of the roads out in the country.

On the other hand, the paper this morning had a story about a 70-year-old female cyclist who got backed over by a salt spreader. Not sure if it was a bike lane or street variety.

The woman had some injuries, but should be fine.

They don't even bother to plow the roads where I live, why would they "waste" resources on a bike path (that doesn't exist anyway).:notamused:

My mailman delivers the mail on a mule...real dependable too :)

I live a bit off the beaten path in Anderson Creek, NC. They don't plow the main road past the house until the 2nd or 3rd day. We plow our own road and on occasion the main road a mile down to the caution light...

We have nice bike lanes here, but when it snows, the bike lanes are receptacles for the snow plowed out of the car lanes. They also plow sidewalks on major streets here, and that snow goes into the bike lane, too.

I found my current commuting route because they didn't clear the bike path I rode on for 2 blocks. I'm happy with it, but of course it's a little shocking that they will not plow the bike paths considering how heavily it is used -- mostly as a sidewalk. I still want to build a bicycle powered snow plow, not sure it would work on the closest path.

Well designed and decent bike paths should be about 10 or so wide, which is wide enough to provide passage for cyclists moving either way and also wide enough for a regular service vehicle, like a snow plow or police car.

Any path narrower than that is going to be a problem.
