Folding Bikes - Shifting on an IF Mode

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I ordered an IF Mode last week (still waiting for the confirmation of shipment info from Areaware) but from the literature I've seen, there's very little info on how to shift the bike, mostly on how to fold it. Does anyone have any info on the process required as Areaware states it's "foot shifted" which I'm not familiar with.
Schlumpf speed drive (http://www.schlumpf.ch/sd_engl.htm). Change gears by kicking the button with your heel. Mouse over the left image here (http://www.sheldonbrown.com/harris/schlumpf.html) to see how it's done.
You get a choice with a schlumpf drive, either the buttons (in left pic above) or kick-plates, I have the buttons on my GoBike & I don't like them, I'm always missing a change, it's much easier with the plates, but also easier to change by accident!
