Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Some updates - Thanks to those who helped me.

Hey everyone,

Here is my old thread that I created looking for info http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?617030-A-Rough-Diamond-Perhaps&highlight= I thought I would give you guys an update seeing as you were all so kind and helpful.

Some of you may remember that it is ridiculously hard getting parts here in New Zealand and I had trouble working out what my bike actually was :roflmao2:

Anywho I have managed to use one spacer out of the conversion kit I bought which was no good. I dont think this is very conventional but it works and I am making progress!

I need to flip the handle bars now but is seems i need to de grip them and feed then through their bracket and I cant be bothered with it yet :thumb: I plan to put some better tyres on it as well. Oh and some decent brake pads.

Your chain looks too tight.

Good job. Should be able to move the chain like an inch or so up and down.

Spacer looks fine for a single speed and chain might be a little light but I run mine tight to without a single issue for years and years. Good job.

I mean I like my chain pretty tight (about half inch of play) but your chain there looks like it's sagging upwards.

The caliper probably came off a "mixte" or "ladies" frame. Usually you can swap the position of the anchor bolt and barrel adjuster to convert it back to a normal caliper.

How so? It's just a spacer.

Thanks everyone, Yeah waimarama is near the auto museum. Good knowledge of the area! I can move the chain a good half inch but I might slack it off a little bit. No I dont think the hub is cracked it is made like that. The spacer is how it is due to it being a weird cassette to start with. It runs real nice anyway and its a joy to ride. It will be better when I get some non perished brake pads etc.

I seriously considered that, but ended up in Australia instead. If I was ten years younger and still all cashed-up, I'd move to NZ in a heartbeat. Well, if I was single. :innocent:

I live about 20 minutes out of napier on the beach. Its a nice place.

I could retire to Coromandel quite happily.

Based on what I saw, it had more hotties per capita than than the US by a wide margin. And they were all friendly.

yeah we have some nice girls. But we do have some serious bush pigs also. I would have to say per capita Australian women are better looking. It hurts me to say that

But you're women are nicer. And they struck me more as wholesome country girls with blue eyes and pink cheeks. Aussie chooks are snootier party girls.

The pace of life that we experienced in NZ was right up my alley. And yes --- the ladies we met tended to be super friendly and also, looked right up my alley. (If my wife ever reads this: I didn't just say that. I swear, the mods edited my post.)

((Also opens one's eyes that the so-called obesity epidemic in the US is no joke. Sorry if I didn't PC that up enough for anyone's tastes. Jus' sayin'.))
