A ride up into the mtns with some fellow BF'ers Hillbasher and JustMe form the SoCal forum. 5,000ft of climbing, some snow at higher elevations! Funrover should be happy with that!:p

Nice cool mellow ride together up the hill!:thumb:

Being in Texas I don't get to see anything like that. The beauty of it is amazing. My guess is the cold not so much.

You could! We weren't going fast. Only time I'd pick it up is when I'd go ahead, stop, record as they go by then have to get back on, and catchup. Good workout though!:D

When I was catching back up, I 'd swear they were lifting the pace but they weren't!:D We were just riding up cause one of the guys hasn't been all the way up in years. He did well though, nice consistent pace. Course isn't real tough, just long. First 8 miles is 6% average and the next 13 is 5'ish. But at mile 16'ish, the road jumps back up for a bit. That's the section where you see the guy in blue (Hillbasher) stand up for a pedal stroke or two. It's tough there only cause you've been going UP for so long.:D

Profile, we rode up to the village which is about the 4500 ft level on the graph.

Herbie, at one minute into the OP video I pan across the valley and say "actually looks pretty nice" You can see the other mtn we did back in January, Crystal Lake. The road in the Crystal Lake video is TOTALLY closed to traffic. GMR used to be a few years a back.:(...Lot so mtns around here!:thumb:

What is the reasoning that they close down the roads up in the mountain?

I think they had fires that thrashed everything. So the lodges are gone, ski resort and no more fishing a the lake. The road on the otherside also gets snowed in, people have died getting stuck out in the middle of nowhere so that one opens off and on.

GMR road was closed after fire and rain. Few years shut down to vehicle traffic. Now they close it when fire season arrives, but nobody is allowed! Arsonist idiots!

Check this out, the road we rode yesterday is getting covered with snow with today's rain. Thread/Pics posted in the Soccal forum today.
