View Full Version : I love having a beard!

Sure, it's not the best looking beard. I wish it was a little more full on the chin and up the sides but riding home today cold, sleet/snow, and serious wind, the ice that quickly formed shielded my face from the biting cold.

How do people survive without them?

you can say that...but frankly, not having a beard works better with the ladies, in my experience. :D

I've had some sort of facial hair for the past decade... maybe longer. I've lost count, really. For quite a while I had a Van **** before deciding to grow out my full beard. Over the past 5 years I've done anything from a short, thin trimmed jawline beard for the summer to what my coworkers referred to as "The Crazy Ivan"; a long full beard and full curl handlebar moustache. (extra intimidation points for The Crazy Ivan, and a clean shaven head. Apparently gigantic bald guys with 1920's carnival strongman moustaches are frightening to most people.)

You enjoy it! My dad has always been a beard man. But I can't stand having all that much facial hair. I think the wife prefers me clean-shaven, too.

Sorry, bub, beards are sexy again...

if you lived in civilization, then you would have realized that beards were 'sexy again' 5-6 years ago.

at this point, they're close to being passé.

I've had a beard since my early 20's. Not going back to clean shaven, ever.

I have a Van **** that I keep closely trimmed to about 5 mm or so. After I trim it down, I am told that it is 'too sharp and it causes chafing' for the next day or two. :innocent:

Mrs. Cloud insists I have face fur. (I won't go into why) I got bored with the full beard so I went with a Van **** a few years. Now I have the Russian Triangle.

I've been enjoying mine, but I don't know if that will last into the summer. Started growing it in a place of many beards, then came back to a place of very few.

The "who the **** are you" reactions from a few people were fun, too.

On my first day back after growing the beard, my colleague just about fell out of his chair laughing and asked me where my blue ox was. Other reviews have been generally positive, with a few entertaining and more ambiguous ones: "You look rather Bolshevik" and "You look rugged and tested, like Bruce Wayne in Tibet."

The first couple of bicycle/motorcycle rides after shaving off 2+ years of growth on my face and almost three years of growth on my head were interesting indeed.

The "who the **** are you" reactions from a few people were fun, too.

i get that as well, but during the winter when i grow my beard/mustache.

You just had to come in here, didn't you, Mr. Perfectbeard. :P

I'll be shaving it or most of it in the summer and the kids have not seen me without facial. That should be fun. :D

I had a similar reaction after shaving my beard off. My co-worker looked at me and asked if I needed help. Then finally recognised me.

I've had my beard since the mid- 1980's and plan on keeping it. I don't want to be bald-headed on the face.

And a few other things. That's what makes them sexy.

Meh, Why cultivate it on your face when it grows wild around your a** h***?

Got rid of mine 5 years ago and will never grow it back.

I grew a beard for the first time this winter, it's really full on the neck and doesn't come up the face beyond the moustache so it doesn't need much trimming. I keep the moustache really trimmed so I look kind of Mennonite. It seems to get compliments from the ladies I know and it helps me stand out against all the guys with goatees and van-dykes too. Mind you, I used to rock massive sideburns so it's not that much of a change. I'm going to shave it into something silly, the the 1860s burns-and-stache combo.

In about 5 weeks (around March 23) I will have grown my hair/beard for one full year without trimming. I'm really not sure if I'll shave/trim it or not. Depends on what kind of job I get after I graduate.
