I recently acquired a '79 Schwinn LeTour that I'm converting to a fixed gear. Hoping to tap some of the SSFG experience with a few issues:
1) the front fork appears to be 95 mm yet my front wheel is spaced at 100mm
2) I'm trying to re-use the existing SuperMaxy crank which has the crank & big ring permanently attached. The bottom bracket spindle is too long though and is throwing the chainline off - are these easy to find different sizes for - the end of the spindle are threaded. I'm doing this on a tight budget so I'm not looking to go out and buy a new crank & BB
3) I'm using a FG wheelset with the conversion, so my the above 2 items are what I'm trying to get figured out
Hoping some of you have done a LeTour conversion or equivalent and can share some tips! Thanks!!
