I recently acquired a '79 Schwinn LeTour that I'm converting to a fixed gear. Hoping to tap some of the SSFG experience with a few issues:
1) the front fork appears to be 95 mm yet my front wheel is spaced at 100mm
2) I'm trying to re-use the existing SuperMaxy crank which has the crank & big ring permanently attached. The bottom bracket spindle is too long though and is throwing the chainline off - are these easy to find different sizes for - the end of the spindle are threaded. I'm doing this on a tight budget so I'm not looking to go out and buy a new crank & BB
3) I'm using a FG wheelset with the conversion, so my the above 2 items are what I'm trying to get figured out

Hoping some of you have done a LeTour conversion or equivalent and can share some tips! Thanks!!

5mm? Just make it fit.

Shove the front wheel in there. Its all good.

As for the BB, being older, your LBS might have skinnier spindles that will work, otherwise just buy a new BB. It should be simple square taper so the crank arms sould fit no problem. You can get ok quality Shimano BB's for around $15.

Of if converting it to fixed means the bike will actually be ridden, go for it. Just dont cut off any braze ons.
