Don't look back
A new day is breakin'
It's been too long since I felt this way
I don't mind where I get taken
The road is callin'
Today is the day
I can see
It took so long just to realize
I'm much too strong
Not to compromise
Now I see what I am is holding me down
I'll turn it around, oh yes I will
I finally see the dawn arrivin'
I see beyond the road I'm drivin'
It's a bright horizon and I'm awakin' now
Oh I see myself in a brand new way
The sun is shinin'
The clouds are breakin'
'Cause I can't lose now, there's no game to play
I can tell
There's no more time left to criticize
I've seen what I could not recognize
Everthing in my life was leading me on
But I can be strong, oh yes i can
I finally see the dawn arrivin'
I see beyond the road I'm drivin'
Far away and left behind, left behind
Oh the sun is shinin' *and I wanna go*
(guitar solo)

I haven't heard that song in ages.
It is one of about 200 songs the ****ty Detroit classic rock station 94.7 likes to over play obsessively. It's a good song, but I could go the rest of my life, and never hear it again, without missing it a bit. Very much like Sweet Child Of Mine or You Shook Me All Night Long.

If you grew up in the suburbs, you were issued it.

heard/read somewhere the lead singer brad delp committed suicide or had an
otherwise untimely ending. guy had a great, distinct voice perfect for boston's
style-a real shame.
never been able to get into the 2nd album, always preferred third stage.
the debut rocked then, when it was uncool (along with kiss and queen) in the
eighties and still shreds today.

Oh yeah, the 1st 2 Boston albums (and maybe, maybe the 3rd? I have them in the original vinyl.
Man, those had such impact. The 1st, more for its sheer audaciousness. The 2nd was too short. You give me a, what, 3 year wait? I want more than 12 minutes a side.
I'm sorry if some of you know what that means ;)

Boston and Heart, my first concert. Right before Winterland in San Francisco closed.

Same as our local classic rock station and, for that matter, every other station. I stopped listening to the radio a long time ago because it kept ruining songs I like by overplaying them.

IMO, 'Don't Look Back' was 3rd of the 4 in quality; the 4th was so bad, I don't even remember the title.
Debut ROCKED the music world back then, three Top 10 hits, and when the Grammys came around... those fools gave "Song of the Year" to that stupid, dissonant, 'Afternoon Delight'.
'Third Stage' was the REAL wait; what was it, 6 years or more? Then, after a few times through the album (yep, had all three on vinyl back then, too), the songs all started to sound like variations on a theme. Still liked the album, though.
Gotta trump ya just a lil, Siu -- spent the better part of the workday jammin' to the CD re-release of 'The Song Remains The Same', by Led Zep. (OK, who here saw it released in theaters?)

I worked in a movie theater in college. That was one of the big midnight movies, along with the Rocky Horror Picture Show and Wizards.

I love a lot of radio stations in Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Northern Michigan, and a couple here and there in California. Aside from that, I agree. Radio tends to suck.
The one good station I ever remember in Detroit was Ted Nugent's station 102.7 the Bear. And it went out of business and became some lame ass R and B station.

Thankfully. That stupid band has got to be the most overplayed band of the 70's/80's. I mean they weren't so bad, but after hearing every hit of theirs 1000x, it's awfully painful to listen to.
