Alt Bike Culture - Homebuilt Cargo bike?

I'm curious if anyone's tried to make their own cargo bike, a front carrier model a la Bakfiets?

Hi, i made 4 cargo bike like bakfits, i've only one advice for the bar transision, for me the best way is use iron cable, my cargo bike is 4 years old and turn perfectly...

Rocco, please don't apologize for your English. It's fine and guaranteed better than most any of our Italian...or most other languages.

What an amazing set up. Very nicely done! Could you do us a small favor and take a picture of your bike so that we can see the way you attach the front extension to the bottom bracket? I assume that you cut out a curved section of that tubing to cradle the bottom bracket.

How did you secure the wire/cable to the front pulley on top of the steering head? I'm not that engineering inclined, I know you have attached the wires on each side somehow so when you turn the handlebars it turns the front wheel, but I'm not 100% sure how you did that.

What kind of pulleys did you use?

Yes i`ve seen www.tomscargobikes.com (http://www.tomscargobikes.com), the first cargo bike i made i use the same sistem but i `ve a problem becouse i dont ave a precise component, the bar and the weelsh dont move at the same time.
The iron pulley is part of an hub, the type whit the brake inside.

Next time i post the photo :)

Hi this is the photo.
It`s two iron cable, the fitst start in the middle go in the front pulley and com back to the middle.
In the iron pulley have some hole and the wire go from inside to outside to be blocked.
Whit this sistem you can turn the bar more then 90 degrees.

Thanks for the pictures Rocco. I don't know if I'll copy that, but I appreciate seeing how you've constructed your steering system. I think it's pretty ingenious.

I hope sometime this year, I can construct one and post pics as well.
