Did your city make the list?

1. Cleveland
2. Boston
3. New York City
4. Milwaukee
5. Chicago
6. Minneapolis
7. Indianapolis
8. Columbus, Ohio
9. Detroit
10. Baltimore

It's funny- there was an article (http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=20102100390) in the Indy Star today trying to make the case that Indianapolis can't possibly be worse than Detroit. If that's the only way to try to feel better about your city, things are sad indeed. ;)

Boston is worse than the bone numbing cold of Minneapolis?

Someone needs a reality check.

I heard this yesterday; totally ludicrous.

Cleveland is the worst? How about Buffalo? Minneapolis? Madison?
Our winters are tame compared to those.

1. Cleveland oh boy, I feel so fortunate to be moving there this spring!

Baltimore? The average high is around 40. That's not so bad. Indianapolis? Ditto.

Madison is cold. Very cold. But it really doesn't get that much snow - about 50 inches or so. However, I would take the dry cold over the bone chilling damp 30s.

Milwaukee is slightly warmer. And gets even less snow.

Boston gets a lot of snow. But of course, that doesn't explain some of the other cities on the list. How in the world is NYC #3? 1) Not much snow 2) Not very cold.

I'd like to see the criteria. I'd say the worst city (not sure of the definition of city) is not even Buffalo anyway (to the poster above), but Syracuse. Syracuse gets much more snow than Buffalo, and is frequently cold and windy. Maybe how well they remove the snow is part of the criteria.

My hat off to the cycling commuters in Minneapolis, and all the upper Midwest and West, as well as upstate New York and Northern New England. Boston is really not that bad.

I wonder what criteria were used to rank these? Duluth and Green Bay ought to be pretty high up there by any reasonable criteria.

Actually I think Cleveland and Buffalo are very, very similar. They both get their share of lake effect snow which is what makes them ****ty places to be in the winter.

Even with the top 50 in population, this list is off.
