Foo - Online shopping shouldn't be as exciting as it is.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

You'd think it would be more exciting to buy stuff in stores, or at least to browse, but really, that's seldom true.

It's the anticipation. You put it in the cart. You select your shipping method. You pay for it.

...
Then you wait. :twitchy:
...
And a package arrives
...

It's ridiculous. I should not be excited to get a replacement lens cap in the mail. I mean, what the heck? It's a $6 piece of plastic! Yet I see that little bubblewrap-lined envelop in the mailbox and I get so I can't sit still. All else is for a moment secondary to getting a glimpse of that black disk with the spring-loaded tabs that I spent 3-5 business days waiting for.

Then I've seen it and the magic fades. Consumerism has lofted my soul with anticipation, and then left me exactly as I was before, although with slightly better protected lenses.

Because they make you buy stuff? That's not a good reason. Reconsider your decision.

I don't exactly think svloid is telling the truth. I think the reason he doesn't do drugs is because of the talking Huffy mountain bikes that visit him and sing show tunes when he does.

Shopping online simply means (to me) that I don't have to deal with crowds of people in a store. I don't like crowds; by eliminating that element, shopping is a tolerable task now. For a while, I even bought my groceries online.
It's rare that I'll go to a store to buy something any more. It has nothing to do with anticipation or excitement of online shopping. It's all about me being antisocial.

I also think svloid isn't being truthful. I think he knows his way around the pharmacy... :innocent:
