This is my first Valentine's Day since separating from my wife of 15 years. Thanks for the reminder.

My partner of +26 years really likes candlelight & especially procreation activities by candlelight.
Wed afternoon picked up a case of votive candles [2 gross per case] and a couple of glass holders. Wrapped the box when I got home - ready for VD.
Hope to use them all - soon.

It's just another manufactured day in the realm of made-up Hallmark Holidays. Sure, St. Valentine was a real dude, but that's beside the point.

I try to make every day with my wife a special day.

Except I might buy flowers. She won't do anything for me, though, since in her mind it's a holiday that should cater to the females, not the males. And she knows how I feel about made-up holidays, so none of my points make any sense, do they?

You really don't trust your partner, do you? Just get some 5M units of PenG, some Zithromax, and Valtrex, and you should be golden!

I'm 42 yrs old....I don't give a damn about the romance anymore. Just bang bang bang and then I want something to eat and a nap.

I'm over 40 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-t2PDrqPCc)

43 years old, 20 with my SO. The kids are on sleep overs so she and I have a date on Friday night. I get them all a little bit of Godiva chocolates just to spoil them enough that any future BF's are going to have to work for it. No crap chocolates for my girls. I design and print my cards for my ladies. Romance has a place all year 'round BTW, IMHO.

See what you're doing to them TJ? You're turning your daughter into a hot cyclist chic!

Did it work? I ask because my eldest is shooting a TV pilot and quickly on her way to being a hot teen TV star. If I've succeeded in raising the bar as it were, it's gonna get tested soon.

Let Me Count the Ways

Valentine's Day is coming fast, so I better get cracking on a love poem.
Make that 8 love poems, one for each of my one-and-only's.

To my race bike:
Roses are red
Violets are white
I love you
'Cause you're so light

To my mountain bike:
Roses are red
Violets are purdy
I love you
'Specially when it's dirty

To my commuter bike:
Roses are red
Violets are black
I love you
And your pannier rack

To my folding travel bike:
Roses are red
Violets are da bomb
I love you
When I fly to see Mom

To my tandem:
Roses are red
Violets are great
I love you
When it's a ride and a date

To my cyclocross bike:
Roses are red
Violets are scarier
I love you
When I vault any barrier

To my recumbent:
Roses are red
Violets are gray
I love you
When my back goes astray

To my fixie:
Roses are red
Violets're the most
I love you
Till I try to coast

AWESOME, can't wait to tell my lovely wife. She'll be tickled that a Dad's mad scheme worked. Us married guys aren't allowed to be right very often, throws the universe off kilter.
I'm not out to create impossibly high standards in my girls, but from what I've seen, and I could be wrong, 'the norm' seems to have taken a dive over I don't know how long.

Fight mediocrity in all it's forms.
