ok, i give up. i cant for the life of me find a damn stem that im in desperate need of. the kilo's stem is 1" and i need a 90mm instead of the 110mm that it brings stock. is it really that rare or am i just failing in my search?

i just got back from my lbs and i asked if there was a shim or adapter to make it so i can use a 1/8" stem on my 1" fork. they said they didnt have options for that. they only have 1 1/8>1" adapters.

Q: where can i get a 90mm [1"] stem for my kilo?

either your lbs sucks for not being able to tell what you were asking for, or you asked them in uncertain words. either way, shims for 1 1/8" stems to be used on 1" steerers are common, and it sounds like that's what your lbs had. you should be able to use any 1 1/8" stem just fine.

Yeah man...I love my Velo Orange stem. Check it out:

http://www.velo-orange.com/vost625.html (6 deg will give you a touch of rise)

http://www.velo-orange.com/vost17ri.html (17 deg will be level)

You'll need the shim they sell too.

BTW - your lbs sucks.

You wont find any 1" threadless stems. Get this stem http://www.velo-orange.com/vostem.html
and the adapter http://www.velo-orange.com/stemshim1to118.html

to be clear though, 1" threadless stems DO exist. you can find them, but they're kind of a rarity these days.

1in threadless stems USED to be the standard. i would check ebay. i actually just got a 100mm stem from a member here.

a lot of 1 1/8 stems also come with a shim. i have a few of them around here somewhere.

In a brief moment of pity, I checked my stem box. Of the seven stems in there, the shortest I had was 100mm. Three of them. But I do have the adapter.
