I need to replace my old Campy Chorus 7-speed RD because of a crack in the inner eye hole of the pivot bolt. I'm thinking about buying the new '04 10-speed carbon Chorus RD but I'm not sure if it will be compatable with my existing drive train. I don't want to buy a whole new groupo if I don't have to. I have had these components for years and they still work great.

Here is what I currently have for the drive train:

RD - Chorus 7-Speed
FD - SuperRecord
Shifters - Synchro2
Cassette - Chorus 7-Speed (11 x 23)
Chain - Regina (I think?)
Crank & Chainring - Chorus (53 x 42)

Any help would be great.

There used to be a place near here (Boston area) called Bicycle Classics that had NOS Campy stuff. Do a Google search, I think they are still around, but in a different location.

The 10-speed Chorus derailleur is not compatible with an older 7 speed drivetrain because the pulleys are narrower to accommodate a 10 speed chain. Your best bet is to find a 7 or 8 speed Campy derailleur. Ebay will occasionally have new old stock(NOS) derailleurs for auction. I won a used 8 speed Chorus derailleur that was in great shape and then replaced the original pulleys with some new ones, all for under 75 dollars. I'm using it with a 7 speed Record hub/cassette and it works just fine.

If the part is less than 10 years old campagnolo will be able to provide you with a replacement pivot bolt. See http://www.campagnolo.com/service.php to find a service centre - they can tell you the part number and order it for you.
