25 freaking miles, I usually tap out at 12.

I have been riding infrequently over the past couple months since getting my bike and usually get easily winded, but this morning I decided to concentrate on form and very deep breathing.

I usually take a stop at 6 miles for a drink, but this time I paused at 12 miles. I was inhaling deeply through my nostrils and out through my mouth instead of panting which is a normal activity when I am exhausted so I didnt feel like drinking until much later.

25 miles later I felt like I could have gone on another for 10 miles but the sun was beating down and I was supposed to meet my wife in like 10 minutes.

I nearly died on a short ride on Wednesday because of a steady incline and I am going to tackle it this Wednesday using the same principles - form and deep breathing :)

Congrats on going 25 miles. Its going to get easier from now on from what I experienced. I hit the 20 mile mark and then everything keeps getting easier now.

Awesome! Every milestone is a reminder that we can go even further. Keep it up and there is no limit to where you can go.

Good job. I was so proud when I hit my 6 mile mark and my 13 mile mark. I'm looking forward to that 20 mile mark.

Way to go! Once you reach 25, longer distances are easier and easier!

I envy you the warm weather; it was just above freezing yesterday when I went out for my first ride of 2010.

fabulous!

BTW: Breathing in with an open mouth and breathing out through pursed lips creates a little more pressure at the aveoli in your lungs providing more osmosis of the air (and oxygen) molecules. breath deep my friend. do not starve the engine.

Thanks for the encouragement, next goal is to ride my age in another couple weeks (40) and do a century by middle of the year
