Ha they are trying to sell them? You can get them at auto parts stores. As far as functionality, I guess they would help keep the chain clean...

must be joking... that is standard tubing you can get at any hardware store and check out how grubby the bike in the website is. :trainwreck:

yup, just split loom tubing. and if anything, it's gonna keep debris on the chain. plus, it's not the most durable thing in the world.

last thing you want on the drive train is a durable thing that can fall off and produce all sorts of havoc with your face and appendages.
much better to have something that will just get chewed to bits if it falls off.

I remember a european commuter bike with a similar cover on the chain in the late 1980's or early 1990's. For a bike that you can ride in dress clothes, it does solve a problem.

split loom tubing, normally used for car wiring.

I've done it before and it kind of works. It keeps the greasedirt from getting on your leg, but water and sludge will collect inside the tube and make the chain unhappy. It's also rather noisy.

the only advantage that one has over split cable loom is that it has openings for water to get in and out of.

but it's still stupid.
