Bicycle Mechanics - Bicycle Weight Budget

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm just curious- out of a bicycle's weight, how much does each part weigh? What are the differences between, for instance, a mid-80s bike boomer versus a modern CF bike? How much weight does each item weigh?
Frame
Fork
Headset
Handlebars
Brake Levers
Shifters (if not integrated with brakes)
Front Wheel
Rear Wheel
Rear Cogs/Cassette
Tires
Tubes
Brakes
Cables & Housing
Seatpost
Seat
Bottom Bracket
Crankset
Chain
did I miss anything?

Not what I'm looking for. I'm more interested in typical mid-80s bike boom stuff. The only thing in that list that approaches that is a 1988 531 Raleigh (there are other 1980 era bikes in there, but no brands I've heard of). I'm more interested in "typical" bikes from the 80s, not extreme weight-diet bikes.

I must've misunderstood the "versus a modern CF bike" part of your post.

Well, okay, that gives part of it. But it has virtually no info about the old stuff.
Maybe I shoulda posted this in C&V.
Some of the info can be found here
