I have a Dahon 3 speed that came from Dahon built like that and did the the same thing to a Raleigh non folding Twenty I ride. The key to success is to have a vary snug fit before clamping the posts and at least 2 inches of the one post into the other or the frame. Roger

I have never seen a Dahon 3 speed that has a built in seatpost extender like that - can you post a picture? At any rate that is very different from modifying the seatpost *yourself* to do such a thing.

You've ascertained that the seatpost is actually not long enough for you? Brought the post up to the maximum? We've sold hundreds of dahon folders in the last 2 years, not one has had a problem where the seatpost isn't long enough. I'd be very cautious attempting something like this unless you're sure you can engineer something that won't fail.

Yes,I extended the post the max amount.Its an old Stratton,posh new Dahon would be no trouble at all ;-)

a seatpost extender? other than perhaps a folding bike with some type of 'telscoping' seatpost I do not think I ever heard of such a thing. if the seatpost needs to be extended chances are real good the frame is just too small
