I've had a very hard time finding a bike to fit me. I came across this one for what seems to me to be a good deal. I know not too many people think buying Peugeot might not be a good idea with all the hard to find parts but this bike seems extremely clean. Any insight?

Offer $100 if it fits?

Chain seems too long, but with the tiny picture and littler description there's not much to go on. Take a look at it in person.

Its worth it for what you want to do but dam, Key West is close to an 8 hour drive from Tampa.

I'm actually in Gainesville (Florida Gator!) but I'm from Miami so I'm going to try and arrange a meetup with a relative. Would it be difficult or stupid to convert to single speed?

If you convert it you would get style points for the bar tape.

If the wheel set is in decent shape it is a really good deal.

not difficult but in the opinion of many here sacrilege and stupid. if you want a SS or Fixed gear buy one. bike direct sells nice ones starting at 300 or so. leave this bike alone for someone who wants a nice classic 10spd.

Yes, stupid. Just don't take a grinder to it. Keep the original parts for the next owner or for when you move outside the flatlands.

Depending on the model year it may fall into the purgatory of Peugeot threading. The BB could be either Swiss or BSA/British and the headset could be either French or British/BSA.

It is nice to ride an ss / fixed gear that has nice road geometry and there is no sin in converting it... people have been doing this for decades and decades.

I observe the do no harm rule when I make conversions as one might always want to switch things back.
