It just occurred to me this afternoon, as I was doing a spring tune-up on my road bike commuter, that the weather truly is interesting these days. Afterall, here I am, nestled in a community up in the Cascade Mountains of WA State, getting my fair-weather commuter ready because I haven't had any reason for studded tires for a few weeks now.

At the same time, all across the south, record snow fall and freezing temperatures are crippling those regions.

That is just a little strange.

I did like the same thing yesterday. mounted a new computer on m y freshly tuned fair weather bike. I keep walking by the rigged-for-winter MTB and give it a pat. I've ridden my regular commuter equipped with studs on dry roads more than on snowy icy roads. getting snow tomorrow but I'm off from work. :(

First fair weather bike day of the year. It felt strange. My posture is all screwed up. My right hand was uncomfortable on the hood. Normal spring stuff I suppose. I remember going through it last year as well. The whole riding position is different on the mountain bike.

But, my average speed was 2.5mph faster. It should go up a bit more as I get used to that bike again. My cadence was down to 78rpm, and I ended last season at 85rpm, so I got a bit sloppy there as well.

The past month or so I have made a concerted effort to stand up on one specific hill to pedal to the top, just to do some work on those muscles. I did that today and just shot to the top. It was pretty cool.

So, all you guys down south, feel free to keep the snow. I am done with winter. It is your turn.

Right now I think it's... Global Darkening.
Sure hope the sun comes up tomorrow.

Meh, we're 10-15 degrees below seasonal average here... wish it would warm back up.

Florida is experiencing one of the coldest winters ever. After several days below freezing, I have at least 6 dead bushes and 2 dead palm trees that disagree with your global warming phenomenon.

Global warming is accompanied by more severe storms and altered currents and winds. Global warming or not, El Nino is stirring things up again. Enjoy your hurricane season.
