They tend not to work well, and generally work worse with age is the primary complaint.

As for dork disks, some people just don't like the way they look.

Love'em. I actually install them on certain vintage bikes I intend to keep. There's nothing wrong with Turkey Levers. They perform a function quite well. The problem is, some expect them to be as efficient as the prime brake lever, which they are not, so they remove them. I know the turkey levers are not as efficient as the main brake lever, so I only use them when I feel it's safe enough to ride the bar tops.
