My college provides me with an email via Google Apps, so my email is in a myname@college.edu format. Anyways, I've been using Mozilla Thunderbird to connect connect to gmail for years now, but when I came back after a 3 week break, messages no longer send.
I can and do receive messages, but if I try to send, Thunderbird continues to prompt me for a password. It does this again and again, never actually sending the message. I'm at a loss as to why this is. Anybody have ideas?

What's the outgoing SMTP mail-server listed in the Thunderbird preferences?

smtp.gmail.com
Port 587
Use TLS, if available.
When I have send receive problems with outlook, if I open my task manager and look at the processes tab, I often find multiple processes of Outlook running. If I shut them all down and the open outlook, it will send and receive fine. Might be worth a try.

I'm using Thunderbird. Anyways, I was just inspired to change it to port 465. For some reason, this worked.
I am a computer idiot. To me, Thunderbird is a car, an old cartoon, a cheap wine, or a group of incredibly skilled aviators. Glad you were able to fix your problem.

Thanks. For the record, Thunderbird is just another email client (like Outlook, Outlook express, Eudora, etc.) brought to you by Mozilla. It's free and very functional.
For the record, Thunderbirds are GO!
