Ok, about 2 months ago I got my first road bike (a Jamis Satilite for a really good price) and I'm starting to do about 25-35 miles a day now. But in the last week or so which is when I started going better distances, I realized that wearing bagish pants is really really uncomfortable. So ive been looking around for a pair of shorts but I cant seem to find any in my size which is a 24 (Im a very skinny 14 year old :))
so my question is does anyone know wear I can find a desent pair of shorts in my size????
and just for Poos and giggles:

Wow that was fast! the Santini Twist Gel is 99.99 a bit to pricy for me seeing how i just blew 600 on a bike and 150 on shoes and pedals and also cause i dont get my pay check for another week :( so i think im gonna stick with the 59.99 ones
thanks for your help!

I just don't understand why riders find cycling shorts uncomfortable..When riding w/o them my arse looks as red as a baboons.
Since you're on a budget (and who isn't ;) ) take a look at the bibs and shorts at www.velowear.com. I have 5 pairs of their bibs. Good quality and price but my favorite is Etxe Ondo (http://www.bicyclinghub.com/bicyclinghub/etonmabi.html) bibs. I have 3 pairs.

I just boughta couple pair of Bib shorts from Performance Bike (their house brand) one was their Gel pad bibs and the other was their Ultra 12 panel bibs.
So far I like them both very much, but they are the first bibs I have tried. I got them on sale for $39 and $49.
I am also a big fan of Bellwether shorts.

Bibs are the answer. I got o couple of pair this year form perfomace (house brand) to I am finding them much more comfortable the shorts. I know the LBS had short that I keep looking at for my kids 1,3,& 7 but as the wife won't let me get the oldest a nice road bike I plan on waiting.

why bibs over shorts?
why bibs over shorts?

You guys are too persuasive. I just ordered two pair of bibs from Performance. Not sure how I will like them, but the straps should frame my belly very nicely.

another great thing about bibs. Once you get off the bike you can pretend to be a pro-wrestler :D
I've never worn bibs, either. I don't have any problems with my cycling shorts staying in place. Do bibs feel hotter in the summertime? I sweat a lot and don't really want extra fabric up around my shoulders and torso.

No.
It's not about them "staying in place" it's about comfort during long rides/races. Believe me, I sweat a lot too and always have worn bibs.
It really is a case of once you try 'em, you won't go back.

buy a pair (better yet, get a pair as a present from someone else!!) and try 'em. If you hate them, don't get any more, if you love them, start retiring the old shorts.

I find this thread to be quite interesting. I have both and don't find bibs to be any more comfortable than shorts, even for the long rides....

I find bibs very comfortable..Maybe I am a heat woose..But, I do find bibs warmer...On cooler days, I prefer bibs... Are the Santini twists really that much better...Think it is Nashbar has a heck of a sale on them...

I like mine. They have less padding that some of my other bibs. When I reach for a pair to go ride, I'll take the Santinis over my more expensive PI Microsensors now. One mistake I make with the Santini's one time though was to pull them up a tad too far - not up the crack of my bum too far, but enough where they would bunch on the upstroke. I did this as they seem just a bit long in the leg comapred to the PIs. Pulling them on normally (!) solved that and they are more comfortable, for me, than my PIs. The padding in the PIs is like a brick and I personally don't like that. I do a regular 50-60 mile Sunday ride and try to get 70-80 in on Friday or Saturday. The Twists work great - no discomfort or constant pulling at them during the ride.
It may be worth pointing out that the Santini sizing is perfect for me. I'm just towards the upper end of their medium size (I'm just over 5'9") and this seems to have worked out for me. I'm sure other bibs are just as good/comfortable, but these fit me so well there's little point me spending money on something else. Only place I've found them is www.bicyclinghub.com - Doug is great guy.
