Already!
I did a 40 mile ride today, and had some low-level Hutchison Tempo1 tubulars mounted. Yes, they are junky tyres, but they were free, they have soft rubber, and the tread is good for early season slop.
Anyway, about 10 miles into the ride (probably no more than 50 miles on this tyre set), I get a puncture on the front tyre!!! I think this must be the first front glass puncture I've had since high-school. Well, of course I always glue my tubulars on properly, and it was a pain in the @$$ getting it off (note: a clincher would come off easier than by glued tubulars do), but at least I had a spare.
Next week, those Hutchisons go back into storage!

Had my first flat of the year yesterday. I abused the stem pumping up the tire before leaving, and got a slow (unpatchable) leak. Fortunately, it was slow enough that I got in my 33 miles and didn't discover it until a couple hours after getting home.

D'Alex,
Have you used the D'Allesandro tubulars? are they any good?
I see them on e-buy, about the same price for a pair as one
conti sprinter.

D'Allesandro makes just about the worst tubulars on the market. Vittoria Rally's are even worse, though.
These cheapo $25 Hutchison Tempos are only for riding in the sloppy stuff. A decent tubular will set you back about $40 or more. Buy some Tufos, Sprinters, or Vitt Corsas, and forget those cr@ppy D'Allesandros

D'Alex,

I'm using conti sprinters and like em. thinking about trying
veloflex as they are in same price range.
I'm not racing so I don't need light weight etc. Just want good
tire with that smooth tubular ride.
I was curious about the D'Allesandros since I see em alot.

thanks,
Marty

The armadillo tires from specialized are supposed to be pretty good . Does anyone have experience with them?

Yes
Armadillos are the closest thing to solid tyres as far as flat protection goes. They don't ride very smooth, though, and quality is sometimes spotty, but nothing will hold up to road cr@p as well. I have them on my touring bike and I don't even bother avoiding glass anymore.
