Hybrid Bicycles - Width of Nashbar trekking bars? Best alternative?

I'm looking into replacing the flat bars on my '10 Trek FX 7.3 with trekking bars. I've read through most of the threads on this forum regarding trekking bars and noticed different brands offering width sizes from 50cm-57cm.

According to threads on this forum:
-Modolo Yuma - 50cm per forum. No USA distributors.
-Nashbar trekking bar - One thread said 50-51cm and another said 55cm per forum. Not in-stock.
-BBBparts - 57cm per official website. Expensive and only 1 distributor.
-Harris Cyclery - No width given. Black not in-stock with no ETA.

Since the Nashbar trekking bar is not in-stock, I'm looking for an alternative that is closest, if not exact, in dimensions as the Nashbars (since it seems to be so popular).

I've only been able to find black trekking bars via ebay, but the width ranges from 57-62cm.

Basically said, I'm looking for a black trekking bar that is closest in dimensions to the Nashbar trekking bar.

Also another question not regarding the subject of the thread.

How does the trekking bar handle if you start sprinting while using the inner bars? Has anyone experienced bent bars?

I also recommend the bar tape with the jell pads. The are very comfortable

When I decide to "sprint" or start going up a HILL, I just switch hand positions on my trekking bars more "forward", I find that the "inner" bars are best for "crusing", jmho, ymmv! Totally agree on the JELL tape for the bars.

I can tell you what I did, How you set your bars up is really a personal choice. I use aero bars on my bicycle & that not that common on a hybrid. I personally happen like riding in them as an option. I mounted my Butterfly bars curve side up with the open end closest to me & slightly angled up. I slid my Index shifter/brake levers around to the forward leading edge bar. Be careful if you do this, the aluminum clamps a fragile. Spread the clamp only far enough to slide it around the bar with magnetic friction. I then mounted Ergo grips on the bar ends & then taped the bar between the shifter and the grips using the gel pads under the bar tape. You will also have to re run your cables to relieve some of the stress on them & they will be tight at maximum turn. Everything I used was stock off the bike, neck, brakes, shifters. The bars are the same diameter as your flat bars.

Great! That's is a awesome setup.

Timber_8's set up is way cooler than mine, I used the stock cables and casing so I couldn't get my shifter/brake levers closer to the edge, (may have the shop, shorten the cables and housing at a later date and add regular grips like Timber_8 did), for now it's just the tape. with standard MTB bars, the stem was actually "too long" for me, changing to the trekking bars made the stock stem much more usable as the bars come back to the rider a lot more, ymmv. One other good thing is that IF I do off road (dirt paths), it still feels like a "straight MTB bar" as it's set up, now I just have 3 more hand positions for the "road/touring riding" :)
