I adjusted my derailleur last night, not sure what i did but now it shifts fine down but shifting up it skips a shift. Any one know a quick fix, I'm at work right now.

You'll need to provide a lot more information. What age and type of bike? What kind of shifter? Which derailleur? How many speeds?
Oh, and just so we're clear on terms, when you say "shifts down", that means you're shifting to a slower gear (meaning a LARGER cog or SMALLER chainring), right?

Specialized hardrock sport 03 8-speed. The derailler's the rear one. Not sure what kind of rear der it has, i think acerea (i've fallen so many times the name's practically scratched off the metal). Shifters are rapid fire.
Yeah it's moving to a smaller cog (shifting up) that's the problem.
There's enough tension on the cable that pulling the der. in to a larger cog is fine but relaxing it so it springs back out to a smaller cog's the problem. I'm guessing maybe there's too much tension on the cable?

What did you "adjust", and what was it doing before that required "adjustment"???

Just off the top of my head, if the derailleur's been banged around that much, I'd check the derailleur hanger alignment. Shops have a gauge for doing that a little more precisely, but you can eyeball it from the back to see if the derailleur arm hangs perfectly vertically.
If you decide to try to align it yourself, be sure to leave the derailleur bolted on or you'll risk ovalizing the derailleur mounting hole and then you'll have a new problem to solve.
