I've ordered a new Vespa LX 150 and need a helmet. 99% of the ones at the store looked best suited for dirt bikes or crotch rockets. I can't stand the look of a full face helmet so I've been looking at the half and 3/4 ones like the Davida Jet or Nexx X60 or MOMO designs.
There were a couple of Fulmers that didn't look half bad but were hard to put on and the liner felt rather cheap. I also got to try a Piaggio(made by Laura Smith, I believe) but that made me look like I had a very large beachball on my head.
None of the ones I mentioned above are available around here; I'd have to take a chance and buy one without trying it on.
Any advice would be appreciated.

I wear a half helmet most of the time on my motorcycle...an HJC...not cool retro but cheap, functional, effective. The wrap around liner zips out for really warm weather. Half a helmet for my half a brain :bang:

Way overdue for a replacement. Trust me you don't wanna try out the helmet by crashing.

I just bought a Fulmer Ranger, gloss black. Thanks for the input. I'll probably get something better in the future but I needed a helmet by today so I could get the Vespa home.

IGNORE the cool factor. A helmet is an important bit of safety gear that may well save your life and you really should buy a full face helmet. The chin piece is VERY important to the structural integrity of a helmet and in MANY non-fatal collisions the chin piece is vital to save your face.
I had a few motorcycle accidents in my time and one involved me barrel rolling down the road to wash off speed which is MUCH better than sliding. In this roll the chin piece saved my face from a LOT of trauma.
If you think that you may benefit from facial reconstruction surgery then by all means, wear a 1/2 or 3/4 helmet but EVERYONE else should wear a full face helmet.

I happen to think my full face helmet looks cool.

Damn that is just 600 less then what I payed for my motorcycle OTD. Unless it comes with a hot chick on the back seat that is way too much. lol

Sure, we all take more risks with safety gear on our bicycles that just aren't worth taking on a motorcycle. Your wouldn't catch me wearing lycra on a motorcycle. I've always been a fan of the more substantial bicycle helmets. I have considered wearing a downhill helmet for road cycling but its just TOO impractical. If someone made a well designed road cycling helmet with a chin piece I WOULD wear it because I know what they do for you. I have seen pictures of professional road riders with HORRIFIC facial injuries after accidents even though they were wearing helmets.
