I am planning a trip from St Louis Missouri to Texas. Id like to go thru arkansas but i cant find any trails or routes going that direction. I need a source for maps or routes that is free so i can plan my route. I tried the google one and couldnt figure that out. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
You might try the touring forum. They do more point to point trips.

A while back, I saw a post on the Oklahoma Freewheel route, which sounds like fun. They start at Hugo, OK, and ride north to the OK border & Joplin, Missouri. I don't know if you can get exact route info from them, or whether they just follow main highways from place to place. The website shows the towns they go through, though. Anyway, you can maybe incorporate some of that route into yours. www.okfreewheel.com (http://www.okfreewheel.com)
What part of Texas are you going to?
Also, I've seen other posts on Adventure tour maps. I notice they have a route out farther east that comes down through Mississippi. You might take a look at it.

See if the states that you are planning to have specific bike route maps. Look at their Dept of Transportation sites.
Most states have an official bicycle coordinator who can help

Thanks all for help! I have a route to Texas now into Denison. Now i need a route from Denison to Goodrich. Would like to take back roads if possible. If anyone has any info please let me know as i have no knowledge of Texas and would hate to end up on a major highway.
Start by searching the various states motor vehical and tourisim sites. Many states have "bike route"or "senic byways" maps available for the asking.
