Forum Suggestions & User Assistance - "Day in the Life" picture thread feasability

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I viewed the "K Street Traffic" thread in the SE Regional forum last night and am inspired to organize a "Day in the Life of BF" photo thread.

Since I joined the forum I have seen many great photos posted by our members of their bikes, places they ride and other cyclists. The thread originally posted by qmsdc15 is a perfect example of the way we can connect through photos here at BF.

I would like to invite all the members of BF to submit one picture that is bike related taken on a particular day. My thought is a day like the upcoming vernal equinox (and as qmsdc15 pointed out a Saturday this year) would make the available daylight even for both hemispheres - a level playing field if you will.

I would like input on structure and organization of the thread. Can we have photos organized by hour taken for example. Or by time zone.

I would really like to encourage all facets of interest to participate. I am not interested in a Road or a Mountain or SS/FG kind of thread. I would like to make the connection that we all have this common interest in bicycles and riding them. Or fixing them (can't leave out the Mechanics and C&V folks)

I think this might be like trying to herd cats. I don't want to make too restrictive but I also realize there have to be some limits.

Please share your thoughts.

I think it's a great idea, but it will require a lot of work to get it done. The general cycling forum might be the best place to do this. You'll have to publicise it and drum up interest. You can ask a moderator to make it a sticky thread if there seems to be sufficient interest for it. Allso ask if you can do some cross-posting to get members on the various subforums involved. Try to get some of the frequent posters interested and involved in spreading the word.

Again, it won't just happen spontaneously--you will have to work hard to do it.

I realize it will be some work. I agree the general cycling forum is the place to do it. The mechanics of cross posting are kind of daunting. I am wondering if there is a way to post simultaneously across the forums. I don't want to miss anybody thats interested but even cutting and pasting my way through them all is sort of daunting.

Thanks for your suggestions.
