Seems you can get it in 26-36-48 configuration which would be great for touring. Probaably a bit heavier than the more expensive cranksets, but if that,s OK with you go for it.
Does anyone know why this crank is not commonly sold in the U.S. ?

Should work great. Doesn't look like it includes the Bottom bracket so don't forget to order one as well.

I use the Shimano M442 crank set on my Surly LHT touring bicycle it has 22,32,44 and it works great for me. I see no reason it would not work but I would go to your LBS and talk to them first to make sure if it would work with your bicycle.

Well of course, that goes without saying, I mean, when do we American men need any chainring smaller than a 52, but I errr, ........well I a a, have this friend and she seems to want a smaller set of rings and so I'm planning on getting her a new crankset. But of course they're not for me, I mean I'm no "girly man" :o
