many years back i came across a product that i haven't been able to find again. it was a solid piece of rubber (no air) that would replace the tube. a bit heavy, but you never needed to worry about leaking air or punctures or anything really. i had them on a mtn bike, but i think they made them in road tire sizes. does anyone know if they still make something like this? if so, can i have a name or a website link?

Flubber is lighter than air! I filled my tires with flubber. I can't leave my bike unlocked anymore, but I can bunnyhop cars even minivans now!

I hope you find the answer cuz I would love that for my commuter bike. Nothing sux more than getting a flat on your way to work.

Sorry for the late response, but I've been on vacation for a week. Someone mentioned something called GreenTyre. I guess it's a solid tire with no inner tube or whatever. I recall someone mentioning the ride quality being horrible though.

umm...riding on solid rubber will kill your rims, your frame, your back, your hubs, your legs, your wrists, your elbows, your shoulders.....

just get the right tires. I have bonganger race lite hard case with a tuffy in there. so far over 3000 miles and two flats both from problems not related to punctures.

I looked into them, but decided against them. I went with a pair of Specialized Armidillos that provide flat protection. I haven't had a flat yet (knock on wood).
Airless tires have been discussed at length here and to summarize - they are CRAP.
