Road Cycling - Bianchi Update Question

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hello all,
I'm going to be looking at a used 55cm Bianchi EV2 tomorrow. I did a search of the forum and noticed some comments about cracking. One of the posts said that the issue was an early models problem (1998-1999) and that it was resolved later.
Are there any tell-tale signs I should look for? Should I avoid it all together? If it has survived this far, should I be okay if I get it? I am not a small rider, but I am not a Clydesdale. I'm 5'11", 179lbs.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. How do do know what kind of Clyesdale might have ridden it and how hard.I wouldn't touch a used one with a 10' stick, unless it was dirt cheap and I wouldn't whine if it broke.

I am also 5'11", close to 6' and about 183lbs. I bought a used 59cm 2000 Bianchi EV2 last February and love it. I read the same reviews as you did. My advice is to check all the tube for any sign of cracks or dents. My feeling is that if the frame has been used for several years and has not cracked yet then it should be fine.
Starting in 2000 Bianchi added for foam inside the tubes to make the frame stronger and better absord vibrations.
This bike is very responsive and stable. It's a great climber. It's aluminum but not as harsh as most aluminum frames. I had an old 1990 Specialized frame before this bike and didn't notice much difference is comfort.
Depending of the price I would go for it. You should like it.
