Hey guys,

Have Tiagra on the front of my bike and not upgrading yet. I am looking for white hoods, anyone know who makes them to fit Tiagra? Will 105 hoods fit?

Getting ready to re-wrap my bars and wanted white hoods.

Thanks

Shawn

Your hoods might be the same as 105/ultegra. Check with these guys " Fair Wheel" (http://fairwheelbikes.com/brake-hoods-grips-c-74.html) and see what they say.
The hoods from these guys fit like original.

Well they replied quickly but unfortunately according to them NO ONE makes aftermarket hoods for Tiagra. dammit, I really wanted to get some use out of the Tiagra before replacing them.

Oh well just cosmetic right? HA.

Well price you pay for having not so good brake/shifters.

Thanks for your reply none the less.

What is not so good about them? They function well, have gear indicators, and as of this time have always stopped me on a dime. Asides from white hoods, what have they left you to desire?

Don't get me wrong they work well as brakes it's the shifters that are not the best quality, just my opinion. Don't feel as smooth as a few of my friends that ride Ultegra or 105s. If they work for you awesome bro, i'm not knocking them. I just realize an upgrade will be in my future.

As for the white hood comment, I just want them and it's only for looks. No way around that, but it's funny the better the quality the more after market support there is.

The mechanism is marginally more clunky than 105/Ultegra in my expirience, however the smoothness could really be effected by a lot of things. Adjustments, cable, chain, casset etc. Your singature and join date indicates that you are new, you might want to check out some of the things I mentioned above before making a heafty invest that might not solve the smoothness.

Another thing to consider, white tape quickly gets yellowed and grungy from your palm sweat. If astetics are important to you, and they may, you will need to change your wrap twice a season to keep it looking new.

I've road before just been a very long time, I was more into mountain bikes. New to the forum yes & since it's been so long since I been on a road bike I do consider myself a NOOB. I agree there are many different things that can and do play a roll in shifting. Even when/if I do upgrade I will not go top of the line, that is way above what I need at this point in my life.

Have white tape now, getting rid of the white. Was doing red wrap but wanted to swap out the hoods from black to white (everything is red/white). Everyone cares about what their bike looks like and also the condition I would hope. Way to many threads in this forum regarding matching this and that for it not to be the norm.

Anyway, I had no intentions off making you feel like I was putting down your equipment bro, after all I have the same shifters but not everyone agrees on everything.

You're not hurting my feelings or putting me down at all bud, no worries :thumb:! I I just mentioned a couple things to check for if your brifters felt rough to you in an effort to be helpful.
