Touring - selle an-atomica

just curious if anyone has any experience or opinions on this saddle. I was thinking about getting a brooks swift, but then someone recommended these?

I tried it for about a year and thought it was the most uncomfortable saddle I had ever used. My wife thought the same thing. And yes, I tried adjusting in every way I could imagine, AND had a professional bike fit with a pro who was experienced with the saddle. In addition, I'd also like to note that rains absolutely kills this thing. I had two that stretched out so I could no longer use tension screw, and both were replaced because the company said this was a "very uncommon problem." Maybe it is, but I was 2/2.

Anyway, I ended up selling them to someone who thought they were the best thing ever. My point is that it's just saddle. Nothing special. It might work for you, or it might not.

I switched to a Brooks B17 and it works for me.

Both my wife and I have one. She loves hers. My experience was good other than it stretched a lot. The adjust is out 3/4's of it's adjustment. I bought the clyde version (am 265 lbs). I purchased a Brooks B17 and have been very pleased with the ride and no probs with the leather stretching. Make sure that you get the Brooks Proofhide and follow the care instructions.

I have both a B17 and a Sel-Anatomica Titanico. They are both good for long distance riding. I might give the B17 a slight edge for comfort. I have over 10,000 miles on each in rain and shine. No problems with either one.

wait, you're surprised that rain caused it to stretch? it's a leather saddle. what did you think would happen?

I have both! The Selle on my 520 and love it. No problems with 7 years of ownership. :thumb:

I have a Swift on my racing :roflmao2: bike.(50 year old tourist on a racer? Yea, right.) I rate it as good for comfort, 10+ for looks. (Think pretty girl with bad attitude)

Either ones are far more comfortable than any plastic body I have ever owned.

Did that water damage occur with the Watershed model that S-A sells, or with the conventional one? The conventional one is not intended to resist water. Silly me, I have it on my fendered bike!

I'm riding a Selle Anatomica Titanico Clydesdale and like it a lot. I was riding an Ideale 39 (looks a lot like a Brooks) that I have owned since 1972, and the SATC was more comfortable the first day out than the Ideale the day before.

I'm also riding the Selle Anatomica Titanico Clydesdale, this is on my everyday commuter, I also ride the Brooks Flyer on my touring bike, I love both of them and both were comfortable right out of the box for me, just one more expensive than the other.

I think it is definitely a good saddle. A saddle should not just take care of your bottom, you see. But you have to get used to it. The Selle SMP Plus is a very easy one to get used to, I think. Good for touring as well.
