Foo - The Russians have really outdone themselves now

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Russian ice dance costumes have historically been bizarre -- even in the bad 'ol days when the Commies were still in the saddle. But last night, they really outdid themselves:
http://www.reuters.com/resources/r/?m=02&d=20100222&t=2&i=64992088&w=460&r=2010-02-22T154629Z_01_BTRE61L17TN00_RTROPTP_0_BUSINESSPROPICKS-US-OLYMPICS-FIGURE-SKATING-COSTUMES
Note that these are the "improved" costumes they adopted after complaints from their original outfits made it necessary to abandon face paint, dark skin, and pseudo aboriginal skin art from the plan.
Their performance was good enough for a bronze. I was expecting a deduction from the presentation scores for the dumbest looking outfits conceivable. If anything, they seem to have gotten a boost from judges determined to prove they weren't going to penalize them for looking like idiots...

That's...um....curious.
I can see now why the First Nations of Canada were offended. That was horrible, and it somehow kept them in first place as well. Oh, yes I am married, and yes I watched this with my wife.

If you spend much time around women, you'll wind up watching it no matter what you think....

My wife watched the hockey with me, all the while yelling at the TV. None of that ice dancing crapola in my household!
(the Westminster dog show, yes. Ice dancing, no)

I'd call that odd.
Thanks Allen. It was even worse the second time. And to think they might get a gold medal for that. really.

They promised me skiing, and what do they do?
I don't know what was more tasteless - that, the couple that skated to John Denver's "Country Boy". There was another bizarre selection of songs - Johnny Cash?!?!?! Apparently, rednecks and aborigines are "in".
I thought it was pretty cool that the Japanese kid skated to Hendrix a few days ago.

All these people are champions that went through many years of sacrifice and hard work to be out there.
Watching the elite makes me thankful I suck.

Wasn't Canada - twas the aboriginals of Australia that were offended after they competed with it the first time in Europe a couple months ago.
And they aren't in first - they're in third right now.

Stuff that would make my wife blush -- it can be quite educational.
