Is there a way to make a 4k-5k purchase from a private seller with my credit card.....that has a very low rate?

The object is a motorcycle and my credit union doesn't make loans on a used bike and the bank wants an arm and two legs......meaning I couldn't easily ride the bike.

Yes it is a toy and I should pay cash, but it is a rare opportunity, and is probably a lot cheaper than the years of therapy that I desperately need.

UD,

Yes.............

My last motorcycle was stolen several years ago and I haven't replaced it due to other priorities.

Now I have found a good deal but don't have the cash. Ironically I bought my last bike with a credit card, but it was bought from a dealership.

Any more thoughts from anyone, including anything about PayPal, as UD suggested?

You're saying that a bank loan is more expensive than putting it on a credit card? That's very unusual. If all else fails, I suppose you could get a cash advance on the credit card...my credit card company is forever pushing that, probably because they make so much money on it.

Cash advance usually has a MUCH higher rate than a purchase. CC through Paypal is the best option, I think.

In my case, a cash advance on my CC is over 20% and that doesn't take into account the impact of new CC regulations.

Apparently it has been a while since I checked with Bank of America about a bike loan.....because they no longer make bike loans. Perhaps that is why I used my CC when I bought my last motorcycle, albeit from a dealer.

As I said, the credit union doesn't do loans on used bikes and they want to lend a minimum of $7500 on new bikes, so I will look at PayPal.

Thanks and don't hesitate to make any other suggestions that may come to mind.

Otherwise I will be taking donations.

Credit card companies love people like you. Unless this motorcycle is going to be your only form of transportation, I say think on it for a week before commiting. If you have self issues, buying stuff regardless of the "rare opportunities", only helps temporarley and eventually becomes a burden, compounding your self issues even further.

BZ,

Interesting comments, but lets not over-think my query.

I am seeking a solution to an issue, nothing more.

If just just a toy for you then why not just buy a 250cc bike? I got one for 3100.

When you get to a certain advanced age you sometimes want things you don't really need.....you just want the best, and this bike is something I have drooled over for years.

Without getting into specifics, this is a large sport tourer......and since no one has told me how to buy it with a CC, I'm about to start taking donations.

Thanks for the thoughts.
