Started the ride at 2:45. Was cool and windy until Newman's Point(paved turnout about 6 miles up) where the winds became hurricane force. At one point I looked down at my puter to see I was barely moving more than 3 MPH, and I was standing up to do that. Now I know I am the slowest person that rides GMR, but really, 3 MPH? Made the top with almost getting blown over a couple of times. All in all, a good ride.

Windy out at the coast as well too. Gorgeous day though. You seem to be doing GMR a lot lately! How often do you go? And no fair that it is in your backyard :p

As often as the knees will allow. I try for 2-3 times a week. There are others that go more often then that. As much as I really enjoy doing it, I need to do more flat miles. All climbing and no cruising makes for a dull boy. So far this year all my rides except 3 have included GMR in them. But I will say all that climbing has done the legs good. Went skiing today for the first time this season and the legs felt great. It was the tenth run before they actually started to feel like jelly. Years past they felt like that after the 3rd or 4th run the first day of the season. So I guess doing GMR is worth more than just being an incredibly great way to get out into the mountains. It's a way to shorten ones life but give you stronger legs at the same time.:thumb:

I didn't ride GMR, but I've got you beat on the MPH.
2.2 mph, going near all-out, HR 170+. On a Cervelo P2C racing bike.
(Granted, it was a 21% incline, and a fairly long one at that)
I could definitely walk faster than that!

If I ever hit a 21% grade I would more than likely start going backwards. Just wondering, where are you getting that 21% reading from? Puter software,GPS, looking up the road and saying "Damn, that's steep"?
Just curious.
