I don't think Apple was targeting the business sector with that market. They flubbed that arena way back in the Pepsi King days and lost major opportunities.

Anyway, I know a guy that just bought 10 iPads to spread around the house. His wife really wanted one in the kitchen for her recipes. I may get one for the kitchen-table as well. I've got a folding remote-KVM unit that folds up and slides under the table, but it's awkward to use and the keyboard's not very water/food-proof and impossible to clean. iPad might be just the ticket...

:wtf:Well, it makes sense to me. The guy always likes to throw parties. Roughly once a month and people are always wanting a computer to check their emails, show off their kids pictures, etc. He would have a laptop in every room to make it easy for people. There's also one for set up as a jukebox for people to pick music & video selections. But they were always getting destroyed by people spilling food & drinks on them or pushing too hard on the screen or pulling them off tables. He actually started picking laptops with all-metal casings to help them survive the parties. We'll see how this market-test of the iPad turns out. :)

You can get doom for the touch for $10 from the app store. Why wouldn't it run on the ipad?

That's just weird to me. No matter how well I know the host/hostess, I would never think to check my e-mail while I'm at one of their parties. If it's really that important (and I realize sometimes it is, i.e., business), get an internet-capable phone.

I hadn't really realized that until I started sharing a cube farm w/ a PR person. Now I realize it's distributed throughout every single section of the paper.
