...where you just want to drop everything and everybody and leave the town/state? Only bringing a few items. Not particularly moving but definitely not sure when you'd come back.

In before the kids... oh yeah, multiple times. I should have done it actually.

Sure,
I've never done it like that though. Too responsible. I have intentionally moved cross country a few times, partially to sever relationships.

Just about every day. Quite frankly, I don't think the feeling ever goes away for me.

Yes, there are at least 2 mornings a week on the way to work I fantasize about jumping on I-90 and just driving. Other than Merle Haggard and his Love Affair with Trains, I didn't know that others felt the same way - gotta be honest with you, isn't it scary to think that there are so many people who dream about doing something like this?

I did just that back in '73. Tied up loose ends and hopped on my BSA. Left Southern Indiana and ended up in NE Texas. Stayed there a couple of years and then moved on. Got that out of my system and returned to Indiana.

Probably not the most responsible thing to do, but it was very good for the soul and head.

For those that actually did it, did you tell everyone you were leaving or where you were going?

Yep, but I'm done doing it in this town.
