Bicycle Mechanics - Expert Wheel Builder in SF Bay Area (East Bay Preferably)?
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Does anyone know any excellent wheel builders in the SF Bay area? The shops I have near me are: Livermore Cyclery (both Livermore and Dublin locations), Dublin Cyclery, Performance (doubt I would find a master wheel builder there but I guess I shouldn't jump to conclusions), California Pedaler, Montano Velo, and many others but these are the ones I have visted previously.

I second that recommendation....
also, quoted from the Rivendell website (lots of cool stuff to check out and read there by the way)
All our wheels are built by Rich Lesnik at Hands on Wheels.
They're built completely by hand, with DTSwiss 14/15 gauge
double-butted stainless steel spokes, and nickle-plated brass
nipples. Each wheel is carefully assembled, trued, and spoke
tension-balanced to within 10%. Our wheels are built to last
and survive good, vigorous use. Rim tape and quick release
skewers included. The wheels listed are our "stock" wheels,
and will usually be shipped within 1 week after the order is
placed. Special orders are available by phone, and might take
a bit longer.
