If you're in Honolulu, you know biking is rather dangerous. There's a transit safety summit this coming Tuesday (August 24) at the Blaisdell. I emailed one of the council members with some concerns, and he replied saying I should come to speak.
I have to go to class, but anyway I thought you guys should know, in case you don't have to work, or you think your voice should be heard when it comes to getting a safer place for bikes on the roads. If you need more information, contact Nestor Garcia at the Honolulu City Council and I think he'll hook you up with tickets and a time to speak.
Apparently the cycling community is sorely under-represented on Oahu, and this could be a chance to stand up and be heard.
I'd love to go, but I've got my first class of the semester, and if I don't show I'll be dropped.

I've visited Honolulu, rented a bike, and dang, yes the cycling is as dangerous in Honolulu as it is in Houston, TX. Therefore, I felt totally at home... except the Pacific ocean was much prettier than Wal-Marts and Hummers.

That's what I always thought... until WalMart went and set up shop two blocks away from the Hummer store, and the US Army rolled out the mother of all SUVs, the "Striker."
