Great Lakes - Season Opener in northern Illinois

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

St. Patrick's Day Ride, out of Wauconda...March 21. A spring warm-up, only 36 miles. Okay, so do it twice if that's not enough for you!:p For $10, you can hardly go wrong.

I seem to remember a lot of Irish green goofiness on this ride in the past.

Anybody interested?

If you're in East Dundee, you're right in the neighborhood of a number of people here on the Great Lakes forum. Check out the BFNIC (Bike Forums Northern Illinois Chapter, really just a bunch of people who have met through this forum and started riding together) Double or Nothing Ride. Wide range in ability, age, bike addictions, etc. Join us for a ride sometime/anytime.

I'm doing the St. Pat's ride if the weather is decent. Usually somebody posts the night before if they're going and/or want to meet up to ride together.

I'll join this ride. Need to get some long-sleeve clothing and also true my wheel before I can roll out.

Been doing this ride for a few years now with a couple of Chi-area guys. Look for three old far....er, gents, riding fixed gears. One quite tall, one vertically challenged, and one fat bald guy(me).

I'd like to go to the BFNIC Double or Nothing Ride but won't be able to attend. Our weekend for spoiling the granddaughter. I'll keep my eyes open for other opportunities, though.

If you guys can just stand (or ride) in a nice neat row, shouldn't be too hard to pick you out. ;)
I'm not brave enough to ride my fixed gear in any type of group ride. Just out of curiosity, what fixed gear bikes do you all ride? (Jamis Sputnik with bullhorns for me)

Tall guy will probably be on a yellow Paramount. Short guy most likely will be on a red Fuji with black fenders or a Litespeed. I'm planning to be on my red and yellow fifties Raleigh Trent Sports 2 speed fixed gear, if the Bendix hub works. Otherwise, it'll be eenie, meenie, minee, moe and pick one from the stable.

I'm not gonna promise like last year and jinx myself. I'll just say, I really want to join the ride. I'll just show up and pay at the door, if that's okay.

I went, even if the rest of my crew bagged on me. Only did the 16 mile loop but the wind and temp weren't bad at all.

Congrats. I weenied out a couple days ago when the snow and cold were forecast. Then when I saw the SUN shining, I knew I shouldn't have made other plans. Oh well, next time.
